Richard Christopher Kennedy, age 75, of Cuyahoga Falls, died Sunday, March 5, 2023 in Summa Akron City Hospital after a sudden illness.
Born March 19, 1947, Ohio, at Twin City Hospital in Dennison, Ohio, a son of the late D. Ray Kennedy and Gwen (Mason) Kennedy.
He was a 1965 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and continued his education at Ohio State University where he graduated in 1970 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Sociology. Furthering his education, in 1972 he graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Elementary Education. For over 30 years he was a well-known Elementary teacher in the Cuyahoga Falls School District.
Rick was an avid collector and enjoyed his motorcycles and triumph sports cars. He also was a music lover. In his retirement, he was in charge of “The Music Alive Program” with The Summit, FM 91.3, which gave refurbished musical instruments to underprivileged children in the school music programs.
He will be missed by his mother, Gwen Kennedy; former wife and best friend, Phyllis Kennedy; sister, Cathy (Bill) Andrews, brother, Don (LuAnn) Kennedy, Nephews, Steven (Melissa) Andrews (Maddy, Ellie & Jack); Brian (Catherine) Andrews (Olivia and Thomas); Step-nephews Michael (fiancé Ashton Dallavia) Snyder, and Ryan (Colleen) Snyder.
Rick was preceded in death by his father, D. Ray Kennedy in 1997.
In keeping with Rick’s wishes, cremation care will be provided through the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia, Ohio. A private family Inurnment will take place at Schoenbrunn Meadows at a later date.
