Richard D. Baker, 91, of Newcomerstown, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at his home. He was born December 14, 1932, in Stone Creek to the late Russell and Emma J. (Paulun) Baker.

Richard graduated from Newcomerstown High School in 1950. He also graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University. Richard was a retired Lt. Colonel from the Army after 20 years of service. He served in Korea and Vietnam. He was a tank commander and then was an aviator. He taught Military Science at Texas A & M and then retired from Mustang Oil in Oklahoma.

Richard was a generous, good-hearted man. He loved his family, life at the lake and playing cards. On October 15, 2005, he married Frances (Hildbrand) Baker who survives. He is also survived by his children, Jana Baker (Ken) Wright, Julie Baker Bickel, and Wes Baker; step-son, Kirk Finnegan; grandchildren, Justin and Jessie Bickel, and Casey Rich; great-grandchildren, Trenity and Kaylee Bickel, Rivers and Walker Rich.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 1:30 PM at West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown with Father Nicholas Ginnetti officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 12 to 1 pm at Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown, prior to the graveside service.
