Richard “Dick” M. Hursey Jr, 71, of Newcomerstown, passed away surrounded by his family Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Medical Center in Canton. Dick was born in Dennison to the late Richard M. Hursey Sr and to Mary Alice (Kail) Hursey of Newcomerstown. Dick was a 1970 high school graduate of Newcomerstown High School. He worked at General Tire and then at AEP Columbus Southern Plant in Conesville.
On August 24, 1979, he married his wife Debbie (Wilson) Hursey in Virginia Beach. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his grandkids. His humor was contagious. His love of living life on the edge was admirable. The gifts he gave through his many friendships were generous. And he was crazy as hell. Dick is survived by his son, Brock A. (Theresa) Hursey of Clovis, New Mexico, and daughter, Brittney E. (Mike) Myers of North Canton; grandchildren, Grayson (Kinsee Miller), Gavin, and Gage Wagoner, and Camden Hursey; his dog Morgan and his cat Ozzie; siblings, Teresa Powell, Brent (Paula) Hursey, and Ryan Hursey; brother-in-law, Richard (Susan) Wilson; several nieces, nephews, cousins, Fish Creek, WV and Jamboree families.
