Richard Eugene Marcaletti, age 89, of New Philadelphia, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, in Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital at Canton.
Born in Wainwright, Rich was a son of the late Mario and Alta (Edie) Marcaletti. He was a graduate of Uhrichsville High School and also advanced his knowledge at Kent State University.
Rich was a meat cutter at local grocery stores for many years before becoming an instructor of food processing at Buckeye Career Center until his retirement.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. For years, he owned and operated Arrowhead Gun Shop. He also enjoyed playing volleyball in his younger years and was the girls’ volleyball coach for numerous years at Tuscarawas Central Catholic, New Philadelphia, and Tusky Valley. His faith was nurtured at NewPointe Community Church where he served and worshipped.
Rich enjoyed bringing a smile to those around him with stories and witty punchlines. He was especially proud of his children and grandchildren and loved spending time with each of them as well as his countless friends.
Rich is survived by his wife of 23 years, Cheryl S. Leggett Morgan Marcaletti, whom he married on May 12, 2001. He will also be sadly missed by his three children: Rick, Dianne, and Quint (Jennifer), all of New Philadelphia; his step-sons, Jon (Karen) Morgan, and Matthew (Caryn) Morgan all of Columbus; grandchildren, Curt (Kate) Marcaletti, Monica (Bill) Hawk, Alyssa (Chad) Waller, Anthony (Cadi) Albaugh, Cara Morgan, Lilli (Nick) Fish, Sophie Morgan, Claire Morgan, and Jack Morgan; great-grandchildren, Carrie Hawk, Laura Hawk, Colby Waller, Arli Waller, Evalyn Albaugh, Emma Albaugh, and Amelia Albaugh.
In addition to his parents, Rich was preceded in death by his first wife, Maxine (Menapace) Marcaletti and a brother, Ronald Marcaletti.
The family will greet guests on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 11 to 1 p.m. in NewPointe Community Church, 3950 OH-39, Dover, where a service celebrating Rich’s life will begin at 1 p.m. A meal and fellowship will follow the service in the church’s community room. Private inurnment will follow at a later date.
