Mary Alice Reporting –

An annual event will be held in Dover’s downtown area and will include rides, food trucks, and a parade.

The 2024 Canal Dover Festival, going into its 43rd year, is hosted by the Dover Exchange Club to celebrate the kickoff to summer.

Mayor Shane Gunnoe notes that the event will span three days.

“Will begin Friday, May 24th and will run through Sunday, May 26th in downtown Dover. The parade will be held Saturday, May 25th at noon.”

The midway will open at noon and throughout the afternoon and evening, there will be musical entertainment on the Walnut Street stage or the Main stage.

Saturday’s parade route will go from Wooster to 2nd and onto Tuscarawas and immediately after, the Dover High March Tornadoes will perform on Wooster Avenue.

A schedule of stages events can be found on the Exchange Club’s Facebook page.

Motorists are asked to use caution around Dover’s downtown due to the increased amount of vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
