Gwen Rummell Reporting –

Jesse Smoulder, Ridgewood High School Assistant Principal and Athletic Director was inducted into the Wheeling Central Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, September 15th.

The ceremony took place in Wheeling, West Virginia during the Wheeling Central and Midland Trail football game.

Smoulder says he feels proud of this accomplishment and advised youth athletes to not give up when facing difficulties.

“The biggest thing for young athletes is that there are going to be hard times, there’s going to be struggles no matter if you’ve been successful or not. I think it’s really important to show grit and toughness in those moments.”

Smoulder was a 1999 graduate and all-state performer in cross country and baseball at Wheeling Central High School.
