Robert Joseph Morrison, age 76, of Cape Coral, Florida, died Friday, October 13, 2023, following a period of declining health.
Born in Dennison, Ohio on September 20, 1947, Bob as he was known to family and friends, was a son of the late Alexander and Betty March Morrison.
Bob was a 1966 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and was drafted into the United States Army in 1968. During his honorable service, he was stationed in Vietnam and was discharged in 1970.
For 25 years, Bob was employed by Dover Mold before venturing out on his own operating a fleet of 15 semi-trucks under JAM Transportation until his retirement in the late 1990s.
Upon retiring, he relocated to Florida where he enjoyed spending time walking, traveling to St. Augustine and living a simple and relaxed life. He had a great passion for cars and loved working on Ford Trucks and had a deep appreciation for the Ford Mustang. Most of all, Bob loved the Lord, often quoting John 3:16 and looked forward to Jesus’s second coming. After God, his family being a Dad, and Grandpa were of great importance to his life.
He is survived by his wife, the former Julia Shaffer, whom he married in 1998; his children, Jenny (Tyler) Mullinax of Ft. Myers, Florida, and Bobby Meek of Freeport; his stepchildren, Amy (Brett) Swinderman of Medina and Molly Pongratz of Dover; his beloved grandchildren, Raegan Mullinax, John and Josh Meek, Danny and Oliver Swinderman, and Gavin and Kennedy Nugent, and a great-grandson, Keagan Meek.
Completing the family are his siblings, Joann Dusenberry, Carol (Toby) Negri, and Steve (Erma) Morrison as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will greet guests on Monday, October 23, 2023, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Pastor Leanna Roe will lead a service in the funeral home’s chapel at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Burial Park.
