Robert Lee Simmons, age 86, of Uhrichsville, passed away June 3, 2022, at Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, O., following a short illness.
Robert was born on November 17, 1935, in Dennison, O., the son of the late Clifford and Mary E. (Wardell) Simmons.
On June 10, 1956, at the St. James Lutheran Church in Tuscarawas, Robert married the former Irma Jean Rainsberg Simmons. Jean passed away on August 21, 2017. Also preceding Robert in death is a brother-in-law Junior Joseph Kandel.
Robert was employed at Hooker Trucking for 30 years and retired in 2020 from Truck Sales after 15 years. He loved spending time with the dog “Bear”, where he took him to breakfast every morning and ordered him bacon.
Surviving Robert is his two children, Randy (Sue) Simmons of Newcomerstown and Glenda (Robin) Faulkner of Cincinnati; his brother David (Connie) Simmons of New Philadelphia; his sister Ruth Kandel of Dover; grandchildren Stacie (Dustin) Abner of Newcomerstown, Ethan (Paige) Celuch of Dallas, Texas and Emily Celuch of Mason; great-granddaughter Addie Celuch and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Robert will be held at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. at Uhrichsville, with the Rev. Mark Unrue officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery in Tuscarawas.
Calling hours will be from 11 to 1 (two hours prior to services), on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at the funeral home.
