Rolland Lane “Babe” Snell – August 26, 2022

Rolland Lane “Babe” Snell, 88, of Newcomerstown, took his last Pedal home on August 26, 2022. He was born on August 5, 1934, to the late Homer and Twila (Ricketts) Snell.

He proudly served his country and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. Upon retirement from GenCorp (General Tire), Babe took on many part-time positions working for the NCT School System as Janitor, Addy Funeral Home, and Terry Longsworth Auctioneer. Babe was a 1953 graduate of the Newcomerstown High School.

Babe’s greatest passion was fixing up and riding his bicycle around town, spending time in his garden, and listening to country and bluegrass music. He was an avid bowler and bowled a 300-game back in 1998. He was a collector of many things throughout his lifetime, one of which was his key chain collection; however, most importantly he loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He strongly believed in his faith and was a lifetime member of the Newcomerstown Church of the Nazarene.

On December 22, 1956, he married Barbara A. (Carr) who preceded him in death in 2011. Babe is survived by his children, Terry (Sally) Snell and Wanda (Chris) Meeks both of Newcomerstown; four grandchildren, Justin (Misty) Snell of Grove City, Corey (Paige) Meeks and Perry Meeks of Newcomerstown, and Nick (Brittany) Snell of Jacksonville, Florida; two great-grandchildren, Ruger Poorman and Baylie Meeks. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Snell and great-grandson, Cameron D. Meeks.

Calling hours will be from 11 am – 1 pm on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. A funeral service will follow at 1 pm at Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown with Pastor Gerald Gray officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown with military service conducted by the Newcomerstown Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Newcomerstown Church of the Nazarene for their Penny’s from Heaven fund, 363 Neighbor St., Newcomerstown, OH 43832.
