Ronald C. Shaffer, 85, of Strasburg, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2023, after an extended illness. He was born in Newcomerstown, Ohio to the late James and Mildred (Temple) Shaffer Bache. He graduated from Newcomerstown High School in 1956.
He worked in construction as a brick layer and carpenter and served in the United States Army. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, collecting antiques and talking about days gone by. He will always be remembered for his kindness and respect for others and his sense of humor.
Along with his parents and stepfather, Lloyd Bache, he was preceded in death by his wife of 23 years, Phyllis Infield Gray Shaffer; sister, Nancy; brothers, Harold (Bud), Glenn, and James.
He is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Shaffer; sister, Shirley Landis; and brother, Charles (Vera) Shaffer. He has many nieces and nephews to cherish his memory. The family would like to thank the Aultman Hospice team of Niki and Sean for their excellent care and support in his final two months.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron’s memory may be sent to Aultman Hospice and Palliative Care, 2821 Woodlawn Ave. NW, Canton, OH 44708. Visitation will be Saturday, March 11, 2023, from 11 to 12 at Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown, followed by a graveside service with military salute at West Lawn Cemetery.
