Ruby Hammel, 86, of Mineral City, passed away in the Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital on Saturday, December 23, 2023.
A daughter of the late Raymond and Letha Mae (Blake) Burkhart, Ruby was born November 25, 1937, in Dover.
Ruby graduated from Dover High School and cared for many local home’s cleaning needs throughout her career. She also was an employee with Shoup Carpet Cleaning. Her faith was nurtured at the Mineral City Nazarene Church. Additionally, Ruby loved to fish and camp at Dogwood Acres with family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Gayle (Shannon) Hammel of Bolivar; granddaughters, Kathryn (Eric) Diaz Valero, Michaela (Aaron) Mohler and Johnna (Seth Schuman) Hammel; great-grandchildren, Lamarr, Brynleigh, Mia, Jasper, and Delilah; siblings, Sherman Burkhart and Betty Hershberger; nephew, Terry Hershberger; and numerous other family.
In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in passing by her granddaughter, Aldawna Hammel; and siblings, Velma Kendall and Geraldine “Blondie” Wise.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover with her funeral beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in German Cemetery.
