Voters in Ohio’s 6th Congressional District will choose between Republican incumbent Michael Rulli and Democratic challenger Elizabeth Kirtley on Election Day.

Rulli, a lifelong Mahoning Valley resident, won the 2024 special election to the seat after serving nearly two terms in the Ohio Senate. He’s a former school board member and he continues to help run his family’s century‑old business, Rulli Bros. Market. In Congress, Rulli has focused on issues including jobs and the economy, energy independence, public safety, small‑business support, and election integrity. His recent legislation includes bills aimed at strengthening Medicare payments for community health centers and protecting First Amendment rights.

Kirtley, a New Philadelphia native and small‑business owner, is a freelance writer who studied English literature at Kent State University. She won the Democratic primary in May — her first run for public office. On her campaign platform, she highlights reproductive rights, calls for codifying Roe, supports expanded voter access, and advocates for abolishing ICE, saying due process and constitutional protections must be upheld. She also emphasizes the need for factual, trustworthy news and stronger safeguards for First Amendment freedoms.

The winner will represent the district in the U.S. House beginning in January.
