Ruth E. Moyer, age 85, of  Bowerston, Ohio, (Leavittsville area), died early Friday morning, June 2, 2023, in the Community Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia.

She was born November 9, 1937, in the former Village of Atwood, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Thomas George and Clara B. (Day) Scott.  Her husband, the late Hoy Eugene “Gene” Moyer, whom she married November 4, 1955, passed away on December 27, 2022. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Harkless and Elaine Gintz and three brothers Luther “Bud” Scott, Richard “Butch” Scott, and Thomas “John” Scott.

Although primarily a homemaker, Ruth was an employee of the former Atwood Lake Lodge for seven years.  She also performed custom cake decorating from her home for many years.  She attended the Leavittsville United Methodist Church.  Her primary focus was always her children and grandchildren. 

She is survived by a son, Thomas Eugene “Red” (Heather) Moyer of Sherrodsville, OH, two daughters, Clara R.  (Randy) Huffman of Dellroy, OH, and Mrs. Norma Jean (Rob) Campbell of Carrollton, OH, her six grandsons, David Moyer of Canton, OH, Andy (Bonnie) Moyer of Carefree, Arizona, Emerson (Miranda) Huffman and Clayton (Haley Barrick) Huffman, both of Dellroy, Jarrett Campbell and Kail Campbell, both of Carrollton, two great- grandchildren Gauge and Ayla Huffman, and a sister, Lona (Bob) Keith of Mineral City, OH.

A memorial service in Ruth’s honor will be held at 6:00 P.M., Monday, June 12, 2023, in the Leavittsville United Methodist Church with Rev. James W.
