Ruth Elizabeth Kula, 85, of Uhrichsville, was called home to the Lord on Monday, June 26, 2023, from the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, after a period of declining health. Born June 30, 1937 in the Wolford Coal Settlement near Uhrichsville, she was a daughter of the late Jacob Albright and Naomi (Campbell) Albright-Bradley.

A 1955 graduate of Uhrichsville High School, Ruth was a lifelong resident of the Newport area where she had worked as a nurses’ aide at the former Roahrig Nursing Home in her younger years. She was a longtime member of Newport Methodist Church, having served as their financial secretary for 20 years. Later in life, she was employed at the Uhrichsville Arby’s for 11 years. Most of all, Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker who will be remembered for her beautiful crafts, including making pompoms for the cheerleaders. She also loved baking and perusing her many cookbooks, as well as travel.

On November 23, 1958, Ruth married Walter A. Kula who survives along with their sons, Jacob A. (Jennifer) Kula, Michael A. (Jamey) Kula, and Jeffrey H. (girlfriend, Pamela Grisez Maloy), and granddaughter, Alexa L. Kula. Ruth is also survived by her brother, John Albright, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her siblings, Margaret Edie, Jake Albright, and Bill Albright.

According to Ruth’s wishes, Pastor Kory Rowland will officiate a private, family service when she is interred at Newport Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Newport Methodist Church, P.O. Box 404, Uhrichsville, OH  44683.
