Ruth L. (Webber) Stein, 87, of New Philadelphia, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2022, in Park Village Health Care Center, Dover, after a period of declining health.

Born at home in Lakeside, Ohio, on February 25, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Luella (Miller) Webber. Ruth graduated in 1953 from Dover High School, and, on June 5, 1955, married Howard J. Stein, Sr. The couple raised four children and shared 64 years of marriage prior to Howard’s passing on January 3, 2020. Ruth was a homemaker and worked at the family business, Slasor & Lieser, until her and Howard’s joint retirement in 1994.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Dover, and the church’s Ladies of Grace Knotters where she volunteered her quilting talents. Ruth also used her sewing skills to make dozens of quilts and pillows for her children and grandchildren. She and Howard were members of the Buckeye Bacon Burners, Swiss Wheelers, and the Akron WBCCI Airstream Club; they camped all over the United States for more than 45 years. Together, the couple enthusiastically attended all of their grandchildren’s sporting and extracurricular activities.

Ruth is survived by her children, Joe (Teri) Stein, Barb (Paul) Pringle, Paul (Susan) Stein, and Susan (Jon) Herman, all of New Philadelphia; her five grandchildren, Lexi (Kevin) Cornell, Hunter Stein, Elizabeth (John) Doby, Samantha and Cody Herman; her great-grandchildren, Addison and Barrett Doby; her step-great-grandson; her sisters-in-law, Doris, and Diane Webber; and her nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Howard, Ruth was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald J. and Richard L. Webber, as well as an infant brother.
