Nick McWilliams reporting – Safe Communities through the Tuscarawas County Health Department has released crash statistics for the third quarter of 2023.

From July to the end of September, a total of 478 traffic incidents were investigated within the county, with one incident resulting in one fatality.

That brings the yearly totals to just over 1,550 incidents, resulting in two deaths.

Statistics show that nearly a quarter of drivers were not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and six percent involved impaired driving.

To date, over 174,000 crashes have been investigated statewide, according to data provided by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Among those, 832 fatalities have been reported.
