Gwen Rummell Reporting –

The Salvation Army will once again be participating in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP).

Starting on June 10th and continuing through August 9th, hot meals will be provided to anyone 18 years and younger in attendance at meal times.

No registration or income verification is required to receive meals Monday through Friday according to Director Barb Huff.

“We don’t care anything about what anybody’s personal situation may be or anything like that. If you are under the age of 18 or a disabled adult under the age of 21, we will feed you.”

Huff adds that the goal behind the continued program is to battle childhood food insecurity.

“This is the 5th year that we have been a SFSP program. We provide breakfast and lunch to any child who walks through our doors at that designated time.”

The Salvation Army, located at 809 Emmet Avenue NW in New Philadelphia, will be closed on June 19 and July 4th through 5th for federal holidays. A weekly menu will be posted on the bulletin board by the door and on social media.

The adult soup kitchen meal program will continue to run at noon in conjunction with the children’s meal program.
