Sandra Carol (Sumers) Overholt, 83, of Newcomerstown, passed away peaceful on Friday, April 26, 2024, at her home surrounded by family. She was born November 6, 1940, to the late Arthur & Jessie (Stocker) Sumers of Newcomerstown, Ohio. She was a 1958 graduate of Newcomerstown High School and attended Columbus Business College in Columbus, Ohio. She worked for 10 years as a secretary for a consulting engineer firm in Columbus. On April 18, 1965,she married Larry Overholt, and they had one child Michael. After Michael was born, she quit her job to become a stay-at-home mom. She was a member of Christ Methodist Church of Newcomerstown and spent many, many years teaching toddlers Sunday school class.
She is survived by her husband Larry, and they celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on April 18, 2024. Also surviving is a son Michael Lee Overholt, a sister-in-law Ruth Ann Overholt, and a brother and sister-in-law Jim and Mary Lou Overholt; nieces Kathy (Tom) Schlarb and Patty (Troy) Couts; nephew Danny (Liz) Overholt along with several great and great great nieces and nephews. A brother-in-law Gene Overholt is deceased.
She enjoyed sewing, working in the garden, mowing the yard, cooking, gospel/country music, and planting flowers around the house. She was a wonderful wife and a great mother. We had great times together, sorry it had to end. You will be sadly and greatly missed.
Services for Sandra will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Addy Funeral Home in Newcomerstown. Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery West Lafayette, Ohio. Visitation will be held on Tuesday prior to the service from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Addy Funeral Home.
