Sandra Kay Tedrick, known by all as Sandy, passed away at the age of 77 on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Park Village Health Care Center in Dover. Born May 8, 1946, in Barnhill, she was a daughter of the late Delbert and Gladys Myrtle (Hines) Smitley. In addition to her parents, her brother, Delbert “Gene” Smitley, Jr., preceded her in death.

Sandy was a lifelong area resident who had lived in New Philadelphia for many years. After her 1965 graduation from Midvale High School, she had a long career in healthcare, first with 35 years at Union Hospital in Dover, and then for 20 years at Country Club Retirement Center as a nurses’ aide until her retirement. Sandy was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cavs and Indians who also enjoyed reading and watching Days of Our Lives and The Young and The Restless.

On November 12, 1977, Sandy married Robert Allen “Bob” Tedrick who survives her along with her children, Sandra Cox, Ron (Denise) Tedrick, Melissa “Missy” Otte, and Michelle (companion, Don Hambleton) Tedrick; grandchildren, Justin, Brittany, John, Kyle, Aaron, Blake, Cassiedenae, Taylor, and Raun; great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Daniel, Patrick, Arianna, Riley, Stetson, and Annabelle, with another expected; and many nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Sandy’s wishes, she has been cremated. All are invited to join her family for a time to share memories and celebrate her life at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, at the Roxford Church Family Life Center, 661 Roxford Church Rd. S.E., Dennison, OH  44621. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
