A scam is occurring in Eastern Ohio and the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office is warning individuals.
Apparently, individuals are showing up to homes and claim to be a third party contractor for the US EPA to check for a gas leak. The impersonation can include this individual coming to a residential home or farm with the inspection claim or with threats to issue a fine.
There have not been any reports called in to the local Sheriff’s Office, but they are asking anyone who may encounter this scam to call their office, at 330-339-2000, and relay any information such as vehicle description and license number.
