Officials at the Schaeffler group are not waiting for a groundbreaking ceremony.
They have started construction on their 230-million-dollar manufacturing facility on the north side of Dover.
Mayor Shane Gunnoe says the company skipped the ceremonial first shovel photo op and will instead push toward a ribbon-cutting next year.
Gunnoe says the early work involves site preparation. Phase 1 calls for the construction of an approximately 300-thousand square foot manufacturing facility.
Schaeffler back in February announced plans for expansion onto 53 acres in Dover extending partially into the village of Parral on the west side of Wooster Avenue.
The facility will manufacture components for electric vehicles, adding 450 jobs.
