The Quaker Foundation is honoring standout New Philadelphia High School alumni, educators, and students tonight at its Annual Recognition Banquet.
Board member Jan McInturf says 147 scholarships will be awarded to 87 graduating seniors, ranging from $1,000 to $10,000, totaling more than $330,000. The scholarships recognize student involvement in school and the community.
The banquet also recognizes distinguished alumni. James “Mac” Patrick receives the Lifetime Contribution Award, Michael McInturf the Special Achievement Award, and Tom Police the Distinguished Service Award.
Two educators will each receive the Jackson Distinguished Teaching Award, Becky Pallotto and Natasha Swailes – who also get $6,000 each as part of the award.
With tonight’s event, the Quaker Foundation will have awarded more than $3.2 million in scholarships since 1994. Doors open at 6, with the program getting underway at 7:30, at the Performing Arts Center at Kent State Tuscarawas.
