Mary Alice Reporting –

An official date has been established for the Trenton Avenue Road rehabilitation and for the first part, school drop-off and pickup will remain mostly the same.

The work spanning from S. Jay Street to Herrick will start on Thursday, April 18th and will include new storm sewers, pavement, and curbs.

Superintendent Brian Rentsch says the project will be a short inconvenience for a great improvement, but a major concern was traffic flow for the Claymont Elementary building with vehicles and buses.

“We’re going to have our drop-off and pick-up will remain the same as it has where it comes in off of Romig Street but when they leave the parking lot, instead of turning right to go into town, they’ll have to go left out of the parking lot.”

Once phase two gets closer the traffic plan will be updated.

For buses, they will circle around Newport Avenue, on to Walnut, and into the bus line.

Regular traffic will be detoured onto on Jaycee Road, Holiday Avenue, and on Newport Avenue and reverse. Motorists are asked to use patience with the increase of traffic in that area.

Construction is expected to wrap up by July 31st.
