Nick McWilliams reporting – The city of Uhrichsville is offering a chance to remove unsightly and unwanted scrap tires next month.

Coming up in April, in coordination with the Tuscarawas County Health Department and Sheriff’s Office, all will be welcome to drop off the scrap rubber at designated dumpsters.

Mayor Mark Haney says that the scrap drive will help with cleanup, and is open to all, not just Twin City residents.

“This is going to happen on April 15th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and will happen down by the basketball courts behind the water park. They’ll bring the dumpsters in, and people will be able to bring their tires there and drop them off, and there’s no cost to anybody. They won’t take semi and tractor tires, and no rims.”

There will be a 10 tire per vehicle limit, and is reserved for residents, not businesses or corporations.

Haney adds that the tire event will be a lead up to the city’s spring-cleaning days, which will occur a week or two following the clean-up.
