The Tuscarawas County Senior Center is asking voters to support Issue 2.
The ballot measure is a 0.8 mill renewal based on 2015 home values with a 0.4 mill increase to collect on 2025 house valuations.
Director Jamie Smith says the rate, if approved, will amount to $34 for a $100,000 home appraised value.
“Currently our levy brings in $1.6 million for all operating costs, and that supports all of our centers. Each of our centers have managers that we pay for through levy dollars and some operation dollars. If we get the new levy that number will go to $2.8 million.”
Smith explains the five-year levy also supports programs and services offered at all seven locations, which contributes to older residents being more social and active.
“Our Senior Center is just growing, and we are expecting more seniors to age out and we’re just hoping that our voters can see the value in our senior centers all across Tuscarawas County.”
Early voting continues this week at the Board of Elections Office, located on East High Avenue. Polling locations open on Tuesday, November 4th at 6:30am.
