
The ADAMHs Board of Tuscarawas and Carroll counties is reminding everyone help is available in many ways as part of its message for national suicide prevention awareness month through September.
Director Natalie Bollon says theboard focuses on this year-round, but especially in September with targeted and focused activities, such as the suicide memorial walk that was held with Empower Tusc at the southside community park on September 7th.
Bollon says the efforts also including heavily promoting the 9-8-8 suicide and crisis lifeline that provides a direct connection to care and support for anyone experiencing mental health distress.
This season area school superintendents have been displaying 9-8-8 messages on the scoreboards at football games.
The schools have also been throwing out little foam footballs with 9-8-8 reminders on them at the games to reach more men, as all 21 suicides in Tuscarawas County last year were males.
