Plans are coming together to fittingly remember Dover pharmacist and community figure Jerry Marlowe, who passed away Sunday at the age of 90.

Marlowe was passionate about theater, gourmet cooking, the Tuscarawas Philharmonic, hospice, and other community causes.

Kait Gallagher-Wilsterman with Little Theatre says they’re encouraging people to wear crazy hats to the Community Variety Show on March 28th in his honor.

Marlowe once told us his hat collection was approaching 200 in all.

A proud Buckeye, he was also well known for sneaking into Ohio State – Michigan home football games, starting in 1959. Over the years, he had dressed up as a band member, a referee, a female cheerleader, and even superman to get into the stadium – even though he always had a ticket.

A memorial service for Marlowe – who is survived by his wife ‘Willi’ – will be held Sunday afternoon at the Geib Funeral Center in Dover beginning at 2 pm.
