Sheldon Roy Wright, 85, of Newcomerstown, lovingly known as “Crapaw” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and countless people who were blessed to know him.

Sheldon was born on March 19, 1941, in Coshocton, Ohio, to the late Dale Wright and Eileen Simpson-Norris.

Crapaw was, above all else, a man of God. He attended the Newcomerstown Church of Christ and loved going to church. He was a firm believer in passing on the word of Christ. His faith was a deeply important part of who he was. He loved his brothers and sisters in Christ, and he had a remarkable ability to make a friend out of a stranger. He welcomed people with kindness and warmth, and his genuine love for others was something that could be felt by everyone around him.

He found joy in the simple things in life. He loved working out, was extremely kindhearted, and, most of all, spending cherished time with his family. Those moments with the people he loved were priceless to him, and they are the moments his family will hold onto forever.

Sheldon was a loving father to his daughter, Angelina (Phillip) Wright-Tristano, and a proud grandfather to Mandy (Christopher) Felgar, Britni Wright, and Bonita Hershberger. He was also a deeply loving great-grandfather to his six great-grandchildren. To them, he wasn’t simply their grandfather or great-grandfather, he was their beloved Crapaw. The love he gave them will continue through every story they tell, every memory they share, and every lesson he left behind. He is also survived by his siblings, Dixie (John) Matthias, Linda Neighbor, and Dale (Dixie) Wright; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Along with his parents, Sheldon was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Wright; sister, Patricia; and his stepson, Scott Moore.

His family meant the world to him. His love, his laughter, and especially his smile brought warmth wherever he went. His laugh was unmistakable, and his smile could brighten a room. Those are the things we will remember when we think of him, the sound of his laughter, the warmth of his smile, and the feeling of being loved by him.

While our hearts are heavy with his passing, there is also comfort in knowing that Sheldon is no longer separated from those he loved. He has been reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife, Beth Wright, as well as his brothers and sisters and many dear friends who went before him. For a man whose faith meant so much to him, we can take comfort in believing that he has finally gone home.

He leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and a legacy that will live on for generations. Though we cannot see him or hear his laugh anymore, the love he gave us remains. Every memory, every story, every smile, and every moment shared with him is something that death cannot take away.

But we will carry you with us in our hearts, and we will be grateful for every moment we were blessed to have you in our lives.

Until we meet again in Heaven, rest peacefully.

We love you, and you will be deeply missed.

Per his wishes, a cremation will take place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
