Shelley Lynn Cottrell, 66, of New Philadelphia, passed away April 26, 2024, in Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital following an extended illness.
Born in Dover on March 14, 1958, she was the daughter of Lucille Helen (Gerber) Logan and the late Albert Earl Clark.
Shelley was a very gifted artist and an avid reader. She illustrated the 3rd grade D.A.R.E. books for the City of New Philadelphia numerous years ago. She also drew area sites, mainly using ink. Other hobbies included cooking and going to yard sales. Shelley’s door was always open to anyone who visited, and she loved to feed her guests.
Additionally, she cleaned for the police station, sheriff’s office, and the jail in her earlier years. Most notably, she collected more than 40,000 signatures at the Tuscarawas County Fair to get 911 established in Tuscarawas County.
She will be deeply missed by her family including her children, Jamie (Tonya Beehler) Clark, Crystal Batten, and Adam Cottrell; her mother, Lucille Logan; grandchildren, Tyler McCullouch, Kairi Clark, Jamie Clark, Jr., Abigail Batten, Victorea Ford, and Alyssa Ford; 6 great-grandchildren; her best friend, Christine Pershing; siblings, Albert Clark, Jr., Jeff Clark, Shawn Clark, Kimberly Clark, and Sgt. Wayne Clark; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, Shelley was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Cottrell; her granddaughter, Dorothea; and her grandparents.
Private services will be held for Shelley and inurnment will take place alongside her Clark grandparents in New Bedford.
