Mary Alice Reporting –

Multiple first responders reported to State Route 39, on Sunday, on reports of a crash where excessive drinking is believed to be a factor.

According to the New Philadelphia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, at 2:51am, a Dodge Challenger, driven by a 48-year-old from Sherrodsville, was traveling eastbound.

The vehicle went off the right side and struck a guardrail. It then overcorrected, went off the left side of the road, hit a ditch, and overturned.

The front passenger, Jennifer Sickles, 46, was pronounced deceased on scene. Two rear seat passengers, one from Baltic and the other from Dennison, were transported for minor injuries.

OSP reports that alcohol is a suspected factor and that none of the vehicle occupants had been wearing seatbelts.

Assisting Troopers were members of the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office, Sherrodsville and New Philadelphia Fire Departments, Smith Ambulance, and the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office.
