Sherry Smith, 81, of Sugarcreek, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Ohio Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia following a brief illness.
Sherry was born in Dover on January 15, 1944, to the late Victor and Dorothy (McDaniels) Potts and married Harold “Smitty” Smith on October 24, 1964. He died October 2, 2021.
She had worked for Sparta Manufacturing in Columbia and was a member of the Sugarcreek United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed baking and was known for her caramels that she made at Christmas time each year.
She is survived by her two sons, Scott Smith of New Philadelphia and Chad Smith of Dover; and her three grandchildren Jordan Smith, Lizzie Smith, and Garrett Smith.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother Neil Potts and Norma Jean Hostetler.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek with Pastor Bill Eckert officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Union Cemetery in Strasburg. Friends may call on Friday from 3-5 PM at the funeral home.
