Shirley Jean Eichel, 86, of New Philadelphia passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023, in the Park Village Health Care Center at Dover following a period of declining health.

She was born on September 18, 1936, in New Philadelphia and was the daughter of the late James and Evelyn Mohn Eichel. She was also preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Karen Eichel; nephew, Chip Eichel; niece, Kellie Eichel Shaffer and great niece, Cassidy Eichel.

She was a 1954 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, where she was a proud member of the marching band. Shirley retired from Kaiser Paint and had also worked for First Federal and Marsh Lumber. She was a life-long member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Eastern Star, and New Philadelphia Elks. Shirley was a diehard Quaker fan and would often make “milkshake” bets with her Dover nephews, Lonnie and Shawn Eichel during Dover/New Philadelphia games. Prior to her decline, she was active in swimming, bowling and had a great passion for her dogs.

Shirley is survived by her brother, John (Cheryl) Eichel of Dover; “The loves of her life,” nephews, Lonnie (Trina) Eichel, Shawn (Lora) Eichel; niece, Ashley (Matt) Noretto; great nieces and nephews, Gaby Rowe, Joseph, Ben, Sam, Britni, Brooke, Hannah, Brook, Robert, Evan, Eric, Ellie, Lizzie, Olivia, Carley and Jacob; great-great nephews, Jaxon Eichel and Gideon Rowe; devoted loving former husband, Bob Bollon; step children, Bruce, Kelly, Krista, Craig, and her canine “Baby,” Rockette.

Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. A service celebrating Shirley’s life will be held on Friday, April 14th starting at 11:00 am in the Dover funeral home with Pastor Brandon Keck officiating. The family will be greeting friends from 10:00 – to 11:00 am.
