Shirley L. Torch, 79, of Dennison, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Park Village Southside in New Philadelphia, after fighting a long, difficult battle against cancer. Born September 24, 1943 in Dennison, she was the last surviving child of the late Frank Peter and Irene (Ross) Torch, having been preceded in death by her younger brothers, Frank Jr., Thomas James, and George Joseph, and older sister, Louise Torch.
Shirley was a lifelong Twin City resident and a 1961 graduate of Dennison High School. Beginning in 1967, she enjoyed a long career with Fab Ohio in Uhrichsville until her retirement in August of 2016 to help provide care for her brother George until his passing in 2019. A true woman of God, her faith in her Lord and Savior has carried her to her eternal home where she will be reunited with her loved ones who have passed before. She will be remembered for her warm and caring nature by all of her surviving family and friends. She is survived by sisters-in-law, Alice (George) Torch and Deborah (Thomas-ex-wife) Thornton; nieces and nephews, (Frank Jr.) Dawna, Karen, Frank III, (Thomas) Brandy, Angela, (George) David and Tim; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
In keeping with her wishes, Shirley has been cremated without a public visitation. There will be a graveside service at St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison on a future date where she will be laid to rest with her beloved parents. This website will be updated with service details when they are confirmed. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, who provided Shirley with the kindest of care, working alongside with Park Village Southside for the final few months of her life.
