Shirley Lois Seldenright, age 90, formerly of Midvale, died peacefully, Thursday, November 6, 2025, while in the care of Park Village Health Care Center at Dover.
Born in Jackson, Ohio, on September 9, 1935, Shirley was a daughter of the late Terry Caudill and Virginia Young Caudill-Borton.
Shirley’s life centered around her family. She loved raising her three children, and as they grew and her family expanded, she never passed up an opportunity to spoil her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Shirley had a knack for making the Christmas holiday special with her infamous white elephant gift exchange. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, family vacations, and time spent at Salt Fork Lake.
Shirley was previously a member of Roxford Methodist Church and the First Baptist Church. She was also a member of Eastern Star.
Shirley loved visiting with her son and daughter, who reside out of state. She looked forward to and greatly enjoyed their trips home and making trips of her own to visit with them.
She will be missed by her son, William (Kat) Seldenright, Jr. of Kansas; daughters, LeaAnn (Mark) Barnhart of Nebraska, and Sherri (Rick) Whitman of New Philadelphia; her beloved grandchildren, Sara Harper, Alicia (Dave) Harding, Laura Barnhart, Kyle (Reilly Peterson) Whitman, and Kelly (Jeff Menk) Whitman; her great-grandchildren, Aubree, Lily, Hazel, Kamdyn, Madison, and Bentley as well as her nieces and nephews, and family friends, Alice and Dorsey Davisson.
Shirley will be especially remembered by Sherri and Kelly, who were both her primary caretakers the last years of her life. Gma was always so proud to say, “Kelly’s my granddaughter and she’s a nurse!”
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Seldenright; her siblings, Hattie LaMore and Terry Caudill.
The family will greet guests on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 3-4 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia with Pastor Brian Flood leading a 4 PM service in the funeral home’s chapel. Private burial in the East Avenue Cemetery will take place at a later date.
The family would like to give gratitude and thanks to Park Village Healthcare in Dover and Ohio’s Lifecare Hospice for their kindness, patience, and professionalism.
