SONDRA SUE BERRY

With quiet dignity and not a single hair out of place, our beloved Sue went to her eternal reward on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. We are grateful that she only spent one night in the hospital where she was comfortable and did not suffer.

She was born on December 20, 1938, to Marion “Mike” Fisher and Carrie “Suzie” (Cummings) Fisher in Uhrichsville. She graduated from Uhrichsville High School in 1957. She married Ronald “Ron” Berry on June 22, 1958. They were blessed with two daughters, Valerie and Alicia. Sue was a traditional wife and mother who practiced the values of loyalty, devotion, and practicality for her family. She unwaveringly supported Ron’s endeavors in life, many of which created big changes for her. Whether it was moving their family to another state or putting in tireless work to develop a new business, Sue could be counted on to help Ron and to guide their daughters.

As a lifelong member of the Uhrichsville Church of the Nazarene, she was part of a legacy group of men and women whose lives and families have been intertwined for over 80 years. She believed in the call to spread the Word of Jesus to all nations. This led her to serve as President of the Missionaries Society for many years. She was also a voracious reader who finished books quickly and happily gave them to her friends to enjoy.

Up until a few weeks before her passing, she managed the accounting for Furniture Warehouse in Dennison, one of a few small businesses she started with Ron. She was proud of the way it flourished in the hands of their daughter and son-in-law. Sue’s commitment to financial responsibility and dedication to “doing things the right way no matter what” remains at the heart of the business.

Most importantly, she was Mom to the late Valerie (Steve) and Alicia (Chris), Grandma to Brenon, Kari, and Ryder (Emma), and Great-Gram to Zoe, whom she adored. She had the bonus privilege of sharing family with David (Angie), Bill (Nicole), and Scott (Lindsay) as well as their children. She was Sis to Jim (Susan), Nancy, and the late Bill. She was Aunt Sue to numerous nieces and nephews scattered throughout the country who fondly recall times spent at Ron and Sue’s house over the years.

We were so fortunate that her mind remained sharp until the very end, allowing her to make her own decisions and impart many old family stories with great accuracy. Her ability to recall details and events was impeccable. We will deeply miss her willingness to share her wisdom whenever she felt it was appropriate.

It must be said that she and her dear sister Nancy, affectionately known as “Nance,” were a dynamic duo over the last few years. The duo became a trio when Nancy’s faithful canine companion, Layla, tagged along to spend her days with the sisters. Nance – she loved you and we love you.

Sue joins her parents, her husband Ron, her daughter Valerie, her brother Bill, and her brother-in-law Bill Meanor, in the presence of Our Savior, where we know they are all without pain or heartache. They are all missed so much on this side of Heaven.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m., on Saturday, March 22, at the Uhrichsville Church of the Nazarene to honor a well-lived life.

Visitation will be from 12 to 1 (one hour prior) with a fellowship dinner following services.
