The election to fill a vacated congressional seat will take place on Tuesday.

Bill Johnson left the 6th District United State Congress seat to pursue another career, and names on the special election ballot Democrat Michael Kripchak and Republican Michael Rulli. The winning candidate will serve until the end of December.

Tuscarawas Board of Elections Director Gail Garbrandt reminds voters to bring valid Ohio identification to the polls.

“Encourage people to come out and vote. It is an important election. The polls open at 6:30am and they close at 7:30pm.”

The district, which covers the eastern portion of Tuscarawas County including Uhrichsville, New Philadelphia, and Dover.
