Mary Alice Reporting – Tuesday marks a special election for the state of Ohio and all polling locations will be open.
Issue 1, if approved, would raise the threshold needed to amend the state’s constitution from a simple majority of the state’s voters to 60%, and would also increase the petition requirements to get a proposed constitution amendment on the ballot.
Ahead of the polls opening, Tuscarawas County Board of Elections Director Gail Garbrandt reminds registered voters to bring a valid form of ID, which recently changed.
“It can be a valid Ohio driver’s license, a valid Ohio ID, it can also be a valid United States passport, and then we do have military ID’s that are acceptable [such as] a veterans ID that issued only by the US Department of Veterans Affairs and you can also have a US military ID and that includes the National Guard.”
The ID cards must have an expiration date that had not passed, contain the person’s name that corresponds with the listed name in the poll book, and it must had a photograph.
All 81 polling locations in the county will be open Tuesday from 6:30am to 7:30pm.
