Mary Alice Reporting –

Voters in the 6th Congressional District will need to make sure they are registered to vote, by end of day, to cast a ballot in a June special election.

The election was needed to fill the vacated congressional seat following Bill Johnson resigning to move to another career.

Tuscarawas County Board of Elections Director Gail Garbrandt says that the office will be open until 9pm, for May 13th.

“If you have been voting then you are still registered. If you have moved since the March primary and you haven’t updated you’re registration, you should probably come in today [Monday, May 13th].”

Early voting will start at the election’s office on Tuesday, says Garbrandt.

“Please bring your valid photo identification with you, if you’re going to early vote. For the first three weeks, we’re open from 8am to 5pm.”

June 4th is last day to request an absentee ballot and only polling precincts for the 6th Congressional District will be open for the June 11th special election. The winning candidate will fill the seat to end of term, which is the end of December 2024.
