
One person is dead and another is in critical condition following a Wednesday morning accident.
The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office responded just after 5am to State Route 39, east of Township Road 420.
During the course of an investigation, they determined that 30-year-old Jason Yoder, of Sugarcreek, was operating an electric bicycle on the berm. While attempting to make a left-hand turn into a driveway, Yoder entered into the path of a westbound Jeep Wrangler and collided with the passenger side. He did have on a reflective vest.
The Jeep’s driver, 27-year-old Anthony Parson, of Stone Creek, brought the vehicle to a stop on the berm facing eastbound. As Parson was checking Yoder, who was lying in the eastbound lane, both men were struck moment later by a Honda Accord, driven by a 55-year-old Millersburg man.
Yoder was pronounced deceased on scene. Due to serious injuries, Parson was transported to Akron General by Sugarcreek EMS.
The crash remains under investigation.
