The Quaker Foundation is again honoring standouts within the New Philadelphia school community as part of homecoming weekend.
Board member Jan McInturf says the retired educator award goes to former Welty English teacher Peggy Range, former teacher principal, and assistant superintendent Karen Jenkins is getting the merit award, and this year’s spirit award recipients are Phil and Sharon Tidrick.
Jenkins is being recognized, in part, for helping start the foundation in 1993 in the aftermath of the high school fire.
Range says she continues to stay involved. she helps with school photos and on Fridays she helps slip blessing bags with meals into lockers for kids to take home on weekends.
The honorees will be acknowledged and presented with their awards at the start of the halftime show during tonight’s New Philadelphia football game against Linsley.
