Stanley Dean Immel, 91, of Dundee passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023, at Park Village Care Center in Dover following a lengthy illness.
He was a lifelong resident of Dundee and was born on January 9, 1932, to the late Walter and Florence (Deetz) Immel. He married Pauline Kuecher on December 19, 1952, and they just celebrated 71 years of marriage in December 2022.
Stanley served in the Army while being stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. After he completed his military service, he returned with his family to Dundee where he worked as a carpenter and lived and worked on his beloved farm property.
He was loved by a multitude of people that he met and worked with during his 91-year journey of life. Anyone who knew him knows that he never met a stranger and cared deeply for others. And, if anyone ever needed anything, they knew that they could count on him to chip in and help in any way he possibly could.
He is survived by his wife Pauline, his daughter Deborah (Gary) Souter of Tyler, Texas and son Jeffery Immel of Dundee. Stanley (Pop, as he was known by his grand and great grandchildren) is survived by Kyle (Amy) Souter and their children-Grayson, Bryson, Kylie and Sawyer; Lindsay (Dylan) Thomas and their children-Karagan, Bynum and Madylin all living in the Tyler, Texas area, and Zachary Immel of Dundee; his sister Margaret DeBois Cugliari of Dover; sisters-in-law Sandra Immel and Becky Immel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Earl, Merlyn, and Duane Immel.
Private family services will be held on Thursday at Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek. Burial will be in Dundee Cemetery where Military Honors will be conducted.
A special word of THANKS to all who helped him along the way, and to Jeff and Zach, a resident at Pop and Grandma’s for taking care of them the past few years. A special thanks to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County for all their support and especially Tina, a nurse with Hospice, who helped take care of Pop in his time of need. He will be missed by all….REST IN PEACE, dad!!
