A neighboring county has received state funding for the purpose of repairing, replacing, or demolish aging bridges.
Funding is from the Municipal Bridge Program, through the Ohio Department of Transportation, and nearly $28 million has been dedicated for the initiative which will address 24 bridges around the state.
Among those award is Carroll County. Just shy of 1 million 600 hundred dollars, they funding is for a bridge replacement on Grant Street, in Minerva.
Grants will pay for up to 95 percent of the eligible costs for bridge construction and inspection. Design costs for this year’s projects may also be funded by the grant awards.
The work will be conducted over the next few years for the 16 bridge replacements, four repair projects, and four demolitions.
Full details of the Municipal Bridge Program can be found on ODOT’s website, www.transportation.ohio.gov.
