Senator Craig (left), Senator Reynolds, and Jordan Hartzler

Gwen Rummell Reporting –

Two senators on the Senate Select Committee on Housing visited Hartzler’s Quality Housing in their mission to learn more about housing.

The committee, chaired by Senator Michele Reynolds, has been touring locations to learn what the state can do to encourage home ownership.

After a Friday visit to a manufacturing plant, Senator Reynolds said they wanted to see the retail side of housing and the problems they face.

“We’ve been traveling the state going to various areas, urban and rural, trying to understand not only the problem, but trying to do a deep dive and understand some potential solutions of how we can really help this housing crisis we are experiencing.”

Senator Hearcel Craig added that by viewing locations across the state, they can see challenges faced in rural, urban, and suburban areas.

Jordan Hartzler, the company’s President, welcomed the senators, saying he hopes they can work on legislation to make home ownership easier and more affordable.

“We’re thankful for their involvement and their interest in manufactured housing. Zoning and financing, those are two of the biggest barriers that I think if we try to tackle together with the senators, we can bring some change.”

The committee will have their last hearing Wednesday. Afterward, they will issue a report on their findings and take legislative action.
