Stephen A. “Steve” Cunningham, age 78, and Sandra L. “Sandy” (MacKenzie) Cunningham, age 82, both of Dundee passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024, and Thursday, June 13, 2024, respectively, in their home with their loving family by their sides.

Steve was born June 28, 1945, in Canton, he was the son of the late Walter and Norma (Haney) Cunningham.  A graduate of Perry High School and went on to serve honorably with the United States Army in the Vietnam war.  He married the former Sandra (MacKenzie) Hayden on October 14, 1972, and moved to a small farm in Dundee.  Steve owned the Irish Chimney Sweep Cleaning service, and retired driving school bus for East Holmes School District and maintenance staff at Buckeye Career Center in New Philadelphia.

Sandy was born November 4, 1941, in Massillon, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Mary Alice (Davis) MacKenzie.  She was a graduate of Massillon Washington High School and attended the Massillon Hospital School of Nursing.  Sandy retired from Joel Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg and taught nursing at the Buckeye Career Center in New Philadelphia.

Steve and Sandy had a love for motorcycles having traveled to forty-nine states in their motor home, towing the motorcycle.  They enjoyed multiple trips to Canada to ride with their Canadian friends.  They both belonged to the North American 40+ touring and the local H.O.G. groups and enjoyed many great trips with those groups. They also hosted friends and family in October for thirty years to make apple butter and chili. Steve and Sandy loved to fish and spent many hours on their pontoon boat on Leesville Lake.

After 52 years of marriage, Steve and Sandy are survived by a daughter Kyra Cunningham; two grandsons, Jesse and Matthew; four great grandchildren, Gunner, Tukker, Hunter, and Rhaygan; and five step grandchildren.  In addition to their parents and in-laws, they are preceded in death by their daughter Kirsten who is greatly missed.

Honoring their wishes, Steve and Sandy will be cremated.  The family will host a Celebration of Life covered dish to be held at the residence on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 2:00 pm.
