Gwen Rummell Reporting –

A law has been proposed to reduce the number of feral cats in the Village of Strasburg.

Over the past few years, the number of feral cats in the village has increased significantly due to abandoned cats reproducing and interacting with indoor and outdoor cats of homeowners.

Following complaints from residents, the village council in Strasburg is now considering a new law that would prohibit residents from providing any food or shelter for feral or stray cats. However, members of a local animal rights organization argue that the proposed law would create inhumane conditions for the feral cats.

Volunteers from the Tuscarawas County TNR Project have pledged to trap, spay or neuter feral cats and then return them to wherever they find them.
