Mary Alice Reporting – Following a weekend blaze, crews are expected to be dispatched back to Sugarcreek Shavings over the next few days as clean-up could cause small fires.
On Saturday, Strasburg Fire Department was called to Hilltop Drive for smoke in the building and it was later upgraded to a working structure fire. A cause and origin is listed as a super sack of sawdust located in the rear building, near a bay door, with an investigation finding no extensions or hot spots.
On Sunday, units were called back out to the business, just before 4:30pm, and they remained on scene for about eight hours. This was for another confirmed structure fire. A Strasburg Fire release says crew’s encountered black smoke, heavy fire conditions, and defensive operations began.
Two tanker fill sites were established on village hydrants and a third alarm was dropped for additional tankers, with 14 fire departments assisting, as well as, Strasburg Police, the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office, and the Ohio State Patrol.
The origin of this blaze is suspected to be in the corner of the main building and a cause is still under investigation.
Monday and Tuesday, firefighters responded to the business again as debris cleanup occurs and hotspots rekindle.
