Strasburg is the latest Tuscarawas County community looking for a new police chief.
Mayor Bruce Metzger this week announced Police Chief Dave Warrick submitted his two-week notice as he pursues a new career path.
The village is already advertising the opening and Metzger hopes to fill it as quickly as possible.
Warrick became Strasburg’s police chief in 2018, taking over during a tumultuous time in the department following Robert Kutcher’s resignation. He was a Strasburg police officer for nine years before that.
Metzger says area municipalities are all in the same boat as finding police officers is becoming difficult. Newcomerstown recently hired a new police chief and has been trying to fill out its police department.
