A new position is being created to provide a resource officer in the Strasburg-Franklin Local School District to enhance safety measures.
During school hours, the resource personnel will be present at the school, while separate police officers from the village police department will attend events.
Superintendent Vince Lindsey says the funds came from a safety grant.
“We received a safety grant last school year to do things within our school building to make it more secure. Finances here will be 70% of it will be picked up from our district and the other 30% will be picked up through the village counsel.”
Lindsey also mentioned that the school is finalizing the language, and this will be the first time Strasburg has had a resource position.
The school will have an officer temporarily filling the position while training from the village police continues.
The permanent resource officer will begin in the school starting on October 23rd.
