
Sugarcreek Fire and Rescue say no one was injured in a Sunday apartment fire.
A release notes they responded at 5:43pm to Engadine Court SW after a caller reported a dryer had caught fire in an apartment but the flames had been extinguished.
The apartment had been evacuated prior to firefighters arriving. Smoke was still present and was emitting from within a wall of the apartment. Crews soon discovered an active fire within the wall space between two neighboring apartments, and the ceiling space between the first and second floors. Additional evacuations occurred.
Units were there for over 2 hours and were able to contain the fire to the original apartment. A cause remains under investigation.
Assisting on scene was Sugarcreek Police and fire department from Baltic, Wayne Township, and Dover, along with the American Red Cross.
