Nick McWilliams reporting – A partnership between Tuscarawas County and Ohio Means Jobs is opening the door for youth employment opportunities this summer.

The Summer Youth Employment Program is open for young adults between 14 and 18 who are looking to earn money through the program. Ohio has set aside $5 million for the program.

Participants must be eligible for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families assistance, and must apply at the Ohio Means Jobs Center at 1260 Monroe Street in New Philadelphia.

The program runs through the end of September, and all income earned as a part of the program will not be counted towards food assistance or the cash assistance platform.

Wages will not exceed $13 per hour, and those interested can call (330) 364-9777.

Youths can apply on the OMJ website to verify consent from parents or guardians.
